What region or area do you provide services in?
We serve animals throughout Ohio.
In January 2017 Ruby and her puppy were rescued from Scioto county in very poor condition. Ruby is recovering at MedVet in Columbus.
How and when did the organization get started?
The Ohio SPCA (formerly known as the Ohio Humane Education Association) was formed in 1983 by two school teachers. Their goal was to educate adults and children about the need to be kind to all animals.
How many employees do you have?
Ohio SPCA has one (1) employee who is caring for more than 100 animals housed at the rehabilitation farm. Cleaning, feeding and watering is needed every day.
There are between 5-6 employees at the shelter in Lima, OH where housing is provided for in average 150 cats and 50 dogs. Feeding, watering and cleaning is needed every day. There is also a vet that is performing spay/neuter of the animals before they get adopted out.
