Star House

About

Background

What region or area do you provide services in?

Star House is the only Central Ohio drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness. Our 14,000 square-feet drop-in center operates in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood of Columbus, near the corner of E. 5th Avenue and Cleveland Avenue. Teens and young adults from throughout Central Ohio and beyond access our services. It is located near major bus lines, including the Cleveland Ave CMAX.

How and when did the organization get started?

Star House was founded in 2006 as a federally-funded research project of The Ohio State University (OSU), designed to uncover best practices for meeting the unique needs of street-living 14- to 24-year-olds. In 2017, Star House became an independent social service agency in order to more nimbly address the needs of youth, engage partners, and draw upon a broader range of financial support.
