Penny Harvest

The driving principle of See Kids Dream’s service-learning programs is that students are empowered to decide how to help. Student leaders organize their peers to collect funds, uncover community needs, and then take action to meet those needs. Here you can see the Penny Harvest students in action through the school year!

step one

GATHER PENNIES

Student Leaders plan a kick-off assembly, where they inspire their school to collect pennies to help their community and they gather the ideas about community issues that the whole school thinks need to be addressed in their community.

step two

ROUNDTABLE

Student Leaders conduct research on Community Issues, identify Non-Profit Organizations that address those issues, interview the organizations, and the whole school votes to decide who to help.

step three

TAKE ACTION

Student Leaders give the money they collected to an organization chosen by their school, conduct service projects, and attend the Leaders of Tomorrow Showcase event to share their process with Community Leaders.
