Community Crime Patrol

About

Background

What region or area do you provide services in?

Community Crime Patrol serves Columbus neighborhoods. It currently operates in five distinct sites:

  • The Ohio State University off-campus neighborhoods and South Clintonville
  • The Hilltop and Franklinton (Columbus’ westside neighborhoods)
  • Merion Village/German Village (southside Columbus neighborhoods)
  • Northland/North Linden
  • The Neighborhoods of the Near East Side

How and when did the organization get started?

Community Crime Patrol of Columbus started 23 years ago in an effort to provide additional patrolling services to areas of Columbus with high needs. When it began, the volunteer patrol was only equipped with flashlights, a two-way radio, and their training. Today, these are still the only tools they use.

How many employees do you have?

Community Crime Patrol currently has 35-40 patrollers who are paid a small hourly wage.

How many volunteers does your organization have?

We have many volunteers who help us raise the necessary funds to keep the good work of our organization going.
