What is your organization’s mission statement?

The mission of Local Matters is to inspire action because food impacts the quality of our health, our land, and our communities.

What population do you serve?

Local Matters serves the community as a whole as it works to educate people about the benefits of fresh and local foods. Local Matters also serves those who don’t normally have access to fresh food by providing resources for people to grow gardens within their communities.

How many do you serve in a year?

In 2014, Food Matters – a nutrition education program – reached approximately 5,000 children and their parents. Also, in 2014, Cooking Matters – a hands-on cooking class for low-income families – reached more than 1,200 people directly.
