How and when did the organization get started?

Tyler’s Light was formed as a result of the overdose and tragic death of Tyler Campbell. Our son, Tyler, was a 2007 graduate of Pickerington High School North, where he excelled in academics, football, and baseball. We were so proud of him, especially when he accomplished his dream of playing Division I football via a scholarship to the University of Akron. As a result of injuries, Tyler quickly became addicted to pain killers in 2009. He sought help through inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilities over the next two years. On July 21, 2011 Tyler completed inpatient treatment at a rehab center and was preparing to continue his outpatient care. However, in less than 24 hours, he relapsed and was dead from an accidental overdose. Out of our grief and determination to stop this epidemic we, with many friends, founded Tyler’s Light, which has reached goals far beyond what we ever would have anticipated.”
