Family Service Project
Join See Kids Dream for our next Family Service Project! Our service projects were created to give families opportunities to increase knowledge and empathy about community needs, strengthen family relationships, and make civic engagement a family habit.
See Kids Dream’s quarterly family service projects were designed to help families make a habit of giving back together. Service projects explore and address community needs. Past projects have created mental wellness kits for those struggling with mental health, or made tie blankets for those in need in our community.
Not exactly. Our family service projects are service learning events, which give your family the chance to learn about the community issue you are addressing. Service learning brings meaning to volunteering, and it is an especially powerful tool to help kids grow their empathy skills.
Before each service project, families complete a family discussion activity to bring meaning to the cause you’ll be addressing. During the event, families complete activities to help kids understand the big picture before they complete a hands-on service project.
Family Service Projects are intended for kids in elementary and middle school, however siblings are welcome to participate. Parent participation in the service project is required.
Due to generous support from The Big Lots Foundation, this event is provided at no cost to families.
