Few activities suggest harmony with the world like riding a bike. Bicycling for transportation helps improve poor health, environmental degradation, oil dependency and financial strain associated with automobile travel and facilitates community between cyclists, their neighbors and their environment. We at Yay Bikes! offer programs and services that promote bicycling as a means to a more fulfilling life, and we invite you to join us—let’s ride!
Year of Yay!: Our monthly ride series highlights Columbus’ finest local businesses and organizations around a different theme each month. Rides are slow and casual—a great opportunity to get comfortable on the roads and socialize with fellow cyclists!
How We Roll: Our nationally award-winning educational methodology can be delivered as a stand-alone bicycle tour that imparts bike traffic law and practical riding tips on fun, intimate bicycle tours of a neighborhood or as a transportation behavior change campaign to elicit mode shift and lawful bicycling. Rides and campaigns are tailored to the unique needs of each audience!
Pedal Instead: Our bike corrals—imagine a coat check for bicycles—provide free, secure bicycle parking for cyclists at festivals and other events. Corrals help reduce event traffic and educate the general public about bicycling for transportation!
Bike the Cbus: Our signature annual ride event highlights the unique neighborhoods of center-city Columbus, Ohio. Bike the Cbus is a casual bicycle tour with 4 short routes totaling approximately 25 miles for cyclists of all ages and abilities to choose from. Stops along the way are sponsored by businesses and community groups, who provide snacks, drinks and entertainment. Each year hundreds of cyclists discover exciting new reasons to love this city!
Ride of Silence: Our newest program is a Columbus tradition dating from 2007, when our city first joined the international movement to honor cyclists injured or killed on public roadways. The annual Ride of Silence features a short program and a slow, silent processional that attracts hundreds of cyclists from all corners of our community.
