May 15, 1013 – Young fundraisers embrace every cent

penny-harvest-kids-art-geumug87-1pennyharvestkids1-jpgStudents from 43 area schools gathered at Veterans Memorial yesterday to share the successes and benefits of the philanthropic efforts of about 15,000 central Ohio children.

Penny Harvest, a 5-year-old program of the See Kids Dream charity, involved elementary and middle schools in Columbus, Dublin, Worthington and Upper Arlington, and raised exactly $41,578.67 this school year.

February 17, 2012 – Supporting the community, one penny at a time

pennyWhile economists may debate the value of the penny, local schoolchildren are seeing the full potential of the coin with the help of See Kids Dream.

The Columbus organization works with schools to help children realize their role as citizens who can make a difference in their communities, said Executive Director Bill Grindle. See Kids Dream works with kids to raise money – typically pennies and loose change – for causes the youngsters support, he said. The process is designed so the students decide how to spend the money, he said.
